Eindproductie “WE ARE GOLDEN” van T.I.M.E – This Is Musictheater Education
T.I.M.E. werkt nauw samen met de Veenfabriek en volgt het leidend thema van dit muziektheaterensemble, in 2012 is dat Geloof / Ongeloof: geloven wij nog in de samenleving? Wat als je alles al hebt en alles al weet, hoe stil je dan nog je honger? Als kleine naïevelingen zitten wij in de fuik van het marktmechanisme. Meer is beter. Is het ooit genoeg?
Voor deze voorstelling deden de studenten onderzoek op kantoor van een aantal grote bedrijven. Door dit directe contact met het bedrijfsleven, verkregen ze verrassende inzichten die de basis leggen voor deze productie. De coaches van de studenten, die zowel uit het bedrijfsleven als de wetenschap komen, maken deel uit van de voorstelling. De mythe van Koning Midas, die wenst dat alles wat hij aanraakt in goud verandert, vormt het uitgangspunt.

T.I.M.E. (This Is Music-theatre Education) is de masterspecialisatie muziektheater van het Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag in samenwerking met muziektheaterensemble de Veenfabriek in Leiden. Kunstvakstudenten kunnen na hun bachelorprogramma aan het conservatorium, de toneelschool of de kunstacademie de master volgen om zich verder te ontwikkelen in interdisciplinair muziektheater.

Finished Opera Heroine
It has been exciting times again… In 2011 I premiered my first work in which I was the composer, director and performer – a challenge! The short opera Heroine – a female lament is a 15 minute work for 1 dancer, 1 recorder player, tape and visual art and it was premiered at the Yo-Opera Festival in Utrecht. It is a rather subtle piece that asks from the audience to carefully listen and let themselves be sucked into the breathing ans slow atmosphere of the piece. Even more surprising that this piece was highly successful infront of an audience that was under 20!

Finished tour of MEDEA and travel to TROMSØ DIALOG FESTIVAL
Since I use my website also as a personal blog I am finally able to take some time to update you on some of the events of the past time.
MEDEA MATERIAAL was our first musictheatre production of the MA in Modern Music Theatre (TIME) of the Conservatory of The Hague. We took the Medea version of Euripides as a basis and after a long and sometimes rather difficult period of digging, trying, failing, flying we had a lot of material and it was all about making choices.
In the final decisions director Christian Mooij was of great help and we were able to give a fantastic premiere and a very successful tour. What I received mainly from the audience was the fascination of the complete mix of music and theatre, the hand in hand work and that in art a story doesnt always have to be the focus but that music and visuals can create atmospheres that everyone can understand (maybe not always with the mind) and feel.
For me MEDEA was an amazing experience. A very difficult and challenging process that turned out to be a very fruitful one that also the audiences of the different theaters very much appreciated. I am looking forward to next years projects …
TROMSØ DIALOG FESTIVAL With my sort of home theater label “Cactus Junges Theater” we were invited to play our music-theater play “Black and White Remix” – a play about Afro-German realities, skin color, different cultures, and that all of these do not really matter in a world of remixes – at the International Tromsø Dialog Festival.
We had 10 amazing days and saw a lot of good theater plays. We ourselves performed twice and were rewarded with a shower of compliments and several invitations to other festivals.
Then the festival was disrupted by the horrific events that happened in Oslo and the Island. I do not want to leave a lot of words on this considering the turmoil this is stirring up in the media right now just this: it showed again how important our work is! To perform a piece about racial differences and multicultural diversities in our modern society on this background – I don’t think more words are needed to describe our feelings and emotions at the time. Never to be forgotten.

Zehn Studenten des neuen Masterstudiengangs T.I.M.E (This Is Musictheatre Education) des Königlichen Konservatoriums Den Haag/NL nehmen das Material der Medea von Euripides als Ausgangspunkt für ihre erste Vorstellung: MEDEA MATERIAAL!
Aus verschiedenen Disziplinen – Musik, Bildende Kunst, Theater, Poesie – beziehen sie sich auf diese zeitlose Geschichte.
Neue Komposition “Interferences of inner voices”
Es ist wieder soweit: das Trio aXolot arbeitet gerade an einer neuen, für aXolot geschriebenen, Komposition – ”Interferences of inner voices” von Dorothée Hahne.
Diese Komposition für 3 Sopraninoblockflöten und Live Elektronik wird am 21. Januar 2011 In Münster uraufgeführt.
Dieser Kompositionsauftrag wird von der Kunststiftung NRW gefördert.
